Every time you step into Ms. Parra’s classroom, you can always count on seeing the students engaged in fun-filled activities!
This past week, the featured artist was Edgar Degas. Students painted their clay sculptures which were inspired by Degas’ “The Little Fourteen Year Old Dancer.” Below, one student is hard at work painting hers:
Here is the famous sculpture that served as their inspiration:
In addition, since Degas is an artist of motion, the students were asked to create anything that moves. For example, one student made the earth and two others made airplanes. Scroll down to see the students in action!
During the session thus far, the students have studied Mona Lisa, “Starry Night”, “The Scream” and “The Little Dancer.” Next week the emphasis will be on Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings and hopefully the students will be able to sketch outside!
